Our Trip To The Big Apple

Boy was I in for a surprise on my birthday!

Hubby told me to get the kids things packed and have myself packed and ready by 8 pm. I had no idea where we were headed. I packed enough things for the kids for a weekend and took them over to the nanny’s house as I was told. I returned home and packed myself up and waited for the next instructions. I asked a few questions of course, like what will the weather be like? What should I wear? Where are we going? All Hubby told me is that we had a couple of reservations and we were going to see a show. I honestly had it in my mind that we were going to have a Stay-cation. However, the uber driver asked where we were headed and the hubby said New York. New York?! ” “You mean the New York New York hotel on the strip?” I asked. Hubby just smiled. Oh man, I was not prepared. Sure enough we arrived at the airport and our tickets said New York. Check out our trip photos!

Broadway Play Shuffle Along. There was so much history behind this play and the choreography by Savion Glover was Marvelous!

I couldn't decide what to have for Breakfast. Jamal chose, pizza. I chose a black and white cookie...not my best choice!

Bryant Park Fountain, Josephine Lowell Memorial Fountain
If I am not mistaken, this is actually the Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain. This fountain was the first memorial in the city that was dedicated to a woman (or so I have read).
Freedom Tower

And of course we had to make it to see Lady Liberty...perhaps it was because it was Memorial Day weekend but we waited over an hour to get on the Ferry!

Asiate at Mandarin Hotel New York New York
Asiate at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, this was a view from our dinner Sunday. It made me blush that Jamal put so much thought into this just for me!
Asiate, foodies
Jamal Is such a foodie! We had a 3 course meal, all were great choices. The little tiny plate there was the amuse bouche (fancy words for hors d’oeuvre).
Central Park NY, NY
Of course our trip just was not going to be complete without visiting Central Park on our last day!
New York food Carts
We saw these food carts everywhere and thought it would be a good idea to try one before we left…we were wrong. I had a Gyro…make that a 1/4 of a gyro while hubby had a hot dog…yucko!

And so ends our trip to the Big Apple! It was a special time that I will always remember. My only regret is not getting a postcard and shot glass (something I always collect when I travel) oh well, I got my kids got gifts. Have you been to New York? What’s your favorite spot to visit there?
